Hey Reader! I've bought a lot of great things this year (this pair of jeans, this line of make up, this vacuum), but, hands down, the best money I spent was on our Brick. If this is new to you, a Brick is a small, square technological wonder you can mount on your fridge (or hide in a drawer) to block apps on your phone. I am not exaggerating when I say my social media scrolling is down to almost zero. NADA. ZILCH. NOTHING. And, I've tried a lot of different apps, but there was always an easy workaround and, listen, I have NO SELF-CONTROL. That's why I need a tool that will not just remind me I'm being naughty, but will shut that shit DOWN. With the Brick, you have to physically walk up to it and tap your phone to get access to your apps again. Of course, I've left the house multiple times, forgotten to tap it, and then had to go all day without access to scrolling. And I survived! And actually thrived! Okay, here are the deets broken down:
It's such a small shift that's made a huge difference in our family life and my mental health. I can't recommend getting one enough! You wanna know another small shift you can make that'll change your 2026? 🎉 Joining the You Habit so you can show up for yourself regularly! Think of it like a Brick for your overwhelm and resentment - once a week you get to remember who you are, what you like to do, and put yourself first. It's easy, fun, and, most likely, will shift your life because that's what happens with consistent action over time. And tomorrow is the last day to get a free hour of coaching with yours truly! Don't Brick me! (I think I've taken this metaphor far enough, don't you?) Let me know if you have questions on the class or the Brick! xx. Kara PS: For the skimmers: Buy a Brick. Buy my email accountability program. Feel fantastic. |
Walking through the world as yourself is no joke. It takes courage, self-awareness, and lots of practice. Inbox Shindig is here to guide you and make you feel less alone with relatable stories, small shifts, and ideas + inspiration so you can start showing up as your most true self.
Hi Reader! For the past six months, I've been obsessed with figuring out how to do Substack. I've talked about it ad nauseam in my mastermind, I've voice texted my business besties about it every day, I've pondered it for hours while driving car pool and half listening to debates about Sabrina Carpenter's new album. Imagine a 10 year old boy, who just discovered Rocket League and NEEDS to discuss his sweet pinch-wave dash maneuver, in depth, all day, non-stop. Um, that was me. 😬 I just...
Happy New Year Reader! Last week I ended my email to you with a PS that I wouldn't be sending more emails because I was lying on the couch, reading books and eating Christmas cookies. THAT WAS A LIE. I didn't mean for it to be. I had every intention of parking my rear under our new, faux Minky blanket and tearing through my new Louise Penney. But, then I started thinking about the returns I needed to make, and the fact I hadn't checked my email in a week, and that we had visitors coming and I...
Hey Reader! When I was in my 20s, I wrote a resolutions list that, no joke, included the following. No boyfriend -> Find soul mate. No job -> Find fulfilling job. In debt -> Get out of debt and start saving. Too big -> Lose 25 pounds. Living at home -> Find place of own. No friends -> Make new friends. First, oh, my love. ❤️ I'm sending this past Kara so much grace because it was a seriously hard time in my life - I was living with my parents after traveling the world for a year and re-entry...
