The smartest thing I did last month

Hi Reader!

For the past six months, I've been obsessed with figuring out how to do Substack.

I've talked about it ad nauseam in my mastermind, I've voice texted my business besties about it every day, I've pondered it for hours while driving car pool and half listening to debates about Sabrina Carpenter's new album.

Imagine a 10 year old boy, who just discovered Rocket League and NEEDS to discuss his sweet pinch-wave dash maneuver, in depth, all day, non-stop.

Um, that was me. 😬

I just couldn't get to the bottom of it, no matter how much energy or thought I put into it.

And then (thankfully for everyone in my life), I did something really smart - I reached out to a Substack guru.

I'm not exaggerating when I say that in ONE HOUR, Andi solved all my Substack problems. She was kind, incisive, and told me what I needed to hear and it WORKED.

I have a plan that starts next week, but, more importantly, I have brain space back. I feel lighter, not constantly worrying about whether or not I'm moving in the right direction. I can breathe again, knowing I have a plan that's moving me forward.

This is the gift of coaching.

It can feel almost impossible to see a way forward when we're stuck in the muck, but, here's the secret: There's always an easy shift there - that will create momentum - we often just can't see it on our own.

Which is why I'm launching Big Brain Sessions for the next month. 🎉

They're quick, one hour coaching sessions, dedicated to moving you through a road block you're struggling to get through on your own.

You might use it for:

  • trying to decide whether to say yes or no to an opportunity when you can't figure out how you really feel
  • coming up with a plan for how to have a hard convo when you aren't sure how to start or what to say
  • when you can't even hear what your brain is saying because it's so full of everyone else's needs and wants
  • when you're ready to take a step towards a dream, but you're feeling overwhelmed and stuck
  • clearing up resentful feelings that are wearing you down
  • when you want to start having fun and feeling light again!

I know your instinct is to do all on your own. To white knuckle through it and analyze it into oblivion.

But, what if you did it differently this time? What if you gave yourself the gift of an outside perspective? How good would it feel to get clear and start moving in a positive direction?

You'd probably feel a little like a Rocket Leaguer who's just figured out you can reach supersonic speed with a well-timed flip. 😂 YEAH, BABY!

Hit reply and let me know if you have questions or get yo'self signed up for Big Brain Sesh and let's get going!

xx,
Kara

PS: Skimmer? Get clear on one thing that's holding you back with a Big Brain Sesh this month. It's designed to quickly remove road blocks that are hindering you living a life that works for you and feels like you.

PPS: If you're thinking about starting a Substack or in the weeds with it, I can't recommend Andi and Ditch the Templates enough!

Happy New Year Reader! Last week I ended my email to you with a PS that I wouldn't be sending more emails because I was lying on the couch, reading books and eating Christmas cookies. THAT WAS A LIE. I didn't mean for it to be. I had every intention of parking my rear under our new, faux Minky blanket and tearing through my new Louise Penney. But, then I started thinking about the returns I needed to make, and the fact I hadn't checked my email in a week, and that we had visitors coming and I...

Hey Reader! When I was in my 20s, I wrote a resolutions list that, no joke, included the following. No boyfriend -> Find soul mate. No job -> Find fulfilling job. In debt -> Get out of debt and start saving. Too big -> Lose 25 pounds. Living at home -> Find place of own. No friends -> Make new friends. First, oh, my love. ❤️ I'm sending this past Kara so much grace because it was a seriously hard time in my life - I was living with my parents after traveling the world for a year and re-entry...

Hey Reader! I've bought a lot of great things this year (this pair of jeans, this line of make up, this vacuum), but, hands down, the best money I spent was on our Brick. If this is new to you, a Brick is a small, square technological wonder you can mount on your fridge (or hide in a drawer) to block apps on your phone. I am not exaggerating when I say my social media scrolling is down to almost zero. NADA. ZILCH. NOTHING. And, I've tried a lot of different apps, but there was always an easy...
