Hey Reader! I've been so grumpy about the holidays coming. Normally, by this point in the season, I'd be fully decked in jingle bells with Michael BublΓ© Christmas music oozing from my pores. Instead, I've been like Grumpy Elf over here, downing Peppermint Jojos and grumbling about the price of Scotch tape. Well, this weekend I had a remarkable turnaround and it's all due to...The Jonas Brothers. Now, in the spirit of full disclosure, I should tell you "Summer Baby" was my #1 most listened to song on Spotify Wrapped this year, a fact that should make me way more embarrassed than it does. So, yes, I'm a bit of a fan and maybe gave a little shriek when I heard about their movie, A Very Jonas Christmas Movie. IT SAVED MY CHRISTMAS (ATTITUDE). π It's exactly what you want from a holiday movie - ridiculous plot, cheesy love story, Santa hijinks, love winning out. But, you also get musical numbers, so much self-deprecating humor, and Will Ferrell as a crazed Jo Bros fan. It's holiday camp at its best and it restored my Christmas soul. Afterwards, I ended up throwing together a list of holiday ideas that we may or may not get through, but it's always good to have a visual nudge on the fridge (and then the kids will bug me about it). So, here is your reminder for this (overwhelming) season: You don't have to do it all.
So, go watch those crazy Jo Bros hijinks and give yourself a big, ole break. You're doing a fantastic job. xx. Kara PS: You want to talk about making things easy? Hi Reader! For the past six months, I've been obsessed with figuring out how to do Substack. I've talked about it ad nauseam in my mastermind, I've voice texted my business besties about it every day, I've pondered it for hours while driving car pool and half listening to debates about Sabrina Carpenter's new album. Imagine a 10 year old boy, who just discovered Rocket League and NEEDS to discuss his sweet pinch-wave dash maneuver, in depth, all day, non-stop. Um, that was me. π¬ I just...
Happy New Year Reader! Last week I ended my email to you with a PS that I wouldn't be sending more emails because I was lying on the couch, reading books and eating Christmas cookies. THAT WAS A LIE. I didn't mean for it to be. I had every intention of parking my rear under our new, faux Minky blanket and tearing through my new Louise Penney. But, then I started thinking about the returns I needed to make, and the fact I hadn't checked my email in a week, and that we had visitors coming and I...
Hey Reader! When I was in my 20s, I wrote a resolutions list that, no joke, included the following. No boyfriend -> Find soul mate. No job -> Find fulfilling job. In debt -> Get out of debt and start saving. Too big -> Lose 25 pounds. Living at home -> Find place of own. No friends -> Make new friends. First, oh, my love. β€οΈ I'm sending this past Kara so much grace because it was a seriously hard time in my life - I was living with my parents after traveling the world for a year and re-entry...
